Sedation Dentistry

Does a trip to the dentist leave you feeling scared and anxious?

Here at Maidstone Dental & Implant Centre, our team are highly trained to be able to ensure that your visit is as stress free as possible. We will always ensure that we talk you through every procedure and will take time to address your concerns and worries.

If this is not enough, we are able to offer two different forms of sedation to help ensure that you are able to receive the treatment that you need.

Intravenous Sedation

Intravenous or ‘IV’ sedation is given by injection normally in the arm or the back of your hand and makes you become drowsy and unaware of the treatment going on, but you are still able to co-operate with the dentist.
After your treatment with IV sedation the effects of the medicine take a little while to wear off. During this time, we will monitor you until we feel it is completely safe to allow you to go home. We will normally advise that you do not drive, drink alcohol or work any machinery 12 hours following IV sedation.

Advantages

Dental sedation allows multiple treatments to be carried out – this helps to reduce the number of visits required, helping to reduce anxiety.

Dental sedation will leave little or no memory of treatment – this can be very appealing for patients who have had traumatic experiences in the past.

Dental sedation helps to improve your oral health – by ensuring that treatment is completed early it reduces the risk of needing extensive, expensive treatment.
